"Pathway #1" by artist Noelle Sharp. Part of a large study of layered art mediums, this is a digital jacquard weaving based off a digital ink jet print of "Raised Outline" hand woven weaving. The artist cut the digital ink jet print into strips, then rewove the strips into a new piece which she photographed and wove digitally.
The original weaving that this digital jacquard weaving represents was expertly crafted with the rare Navajo weaving technique known as the "Raised Outline", this piece showcases the artist's expertise while honoring cultural traditions. Sharp has spent the last 10 years volunteering, working and learning from the Navajo weavers of the Navajo Nation.
10% from the sale of this piece will go towards the nonprofit Adopt A Native Elder, a program that support traditional Navajo elders who are living off the land.
Framed in an oak wooden frame with tempered glass to protect the weaving without a white framing mat.
